• WV Mine with Sasha (slide film!)

Click here to read the blog post I already made about this shoot! I took two rolls of film with Sasha Jacobsen and this is the slide film roll from that day! Right after we finished this roll is when the man with the snake showed up! Haha

CURRENTLY: I am still hibernating for the winter and will probably continue until sometime in the spring. I haven’t decided quite when I’m going to pick things back up again, but I know I’ve really been enjoying not being on social media or doing much in terms of having photoshoots or traveling. My friend Coconutdreamin was here for a couple of days this past week and it was wonderful spending some time with her after spending time together once in person in… I think 2015? and being friends online. I actually made an exception for my no-creation hibernation and shot a roll of double exposures of her and posed for her while she was here! It would have been a shame to miss out on the opportunity, especially since she doesn’t travel very much anymore. I’ve already gotten the film back, I doubled her over images from my time in Glacier National Park this summer! I absolutely love the entire roll and am excited to share it with you in the coming weeks!

(Edit: A photographer I am not going to name because after working with him I found out that he has been inappropriate with SEVERAL models and I don’t want to promote him or make others think he is safe because I have posed for him) came up from (place redacted) to explore and shoot in an abandoned college with me recently and he has been kind enough to let me share the results with you! It was SO HOT outside and was only going to get hotter so we started outside behind the college where the Department of Transportation has a bunch of junk stored. I have been to the college before but had never gone all the way back to that area. Even though it was junky there were plenty of opportunities for unique photos. Once we were finished outside we traipsed through what used to be the gym which is now covered in graffiti (well, most of the college has a bunch of graffiti), and then we went further in to the hallways upstairs and to the giant staircase in the main entrance hall. I made the mistake of laying stomach-down on the insulation-covered stairway near the end of the shoot and regretted it later after I got home. My stomach was red and raw and sooooo angry because I got tons of fiberglass all over it. That was miserable but luckily it healed pretty quickly. Now I know for next time.

At one point I had cobwebs in my pubes from laying on a retaining wall, I wish I got a photo because I thought it was hilarious.

  • With V by Kara Perry

Kara Perry and I visited V at her home outside of Charlotte (again, I’m SO LUCKY that so many wonderful creative people live close to me!) to photograph each other, and these are the images that Kara took of us. V was pregnant with her third child (I was fortunate enough to photograph her during two of her pregnancies!) during this shoot. V’s property is a photographer’s wonderland. Not only is her house super cute and great to shoot in and around, she has a couple of abandoned houses within walking distance of her house!

CURRENTLY: I’ve been SO SUPER PRODUCTIVE the last couple of days and it feels great! Planning my blog posts for the next couple of months, updating the menu here on my website to make everything easier to navigate, making new pages to promote my offerings of photography, modeling, mentoring, and energy healing (they aren’t officially live yet, but they’re coming soon!), and scheduling a LOT of weekly free blog posts! It’s amazing how much I can get done in a day when I don’t spend 2+ hours on instagram.

What kinds of things would you like to see from me? How can I make your member experience here better or easier? I’d love any feedback you want to share with me!

It was super hot but I was in the shade of the woods so it wasn’t too terrible. I had to be really sneaky because there were children playing in the field next to me. Pine needles are sharp, and so are pine cones! Neither one of those feels very good when you step on it and it gets stuck in your foot. =[

I want to go back to the place with all the pine cones and spend more time there on some ideas I have. I’ll have to bring someone with me as a lookout. =]

  • Liana Pilar in the forest

I met Liana Pilar through Instagram when I was planning the nude beach gathering outside of Portland Oregon this summer. She was already planning on coming to the gathering but we wanted to create together individually as well. I picked her up before the gathering and we got to know each other by exploring the forest and taking these photos down the road from the nude beach. It didn’t take long to shoot this roll of film because everywhere you look in the forest in the PNW is gorgeous, so we had several wonderful backdrops to choose from all in the same place. The images with the wooden structure were taken right on the beach where I held the gathering!

CURRENTLY: This week I chose to take a break from social media through the end of the year. I’ve been wanting to take a sabbatical like this for a while and after postponing it a couple of times (because of feeling like I need to be online a lot in order to make a living), I made the decision and deleted social media apps from my phone. I’ve noticed myself sometimes feeling weird and like I want to distract myself by being on my phone but I do something else and feel better. It’s interesting how addicted we get to checking our phones constantly! I’m still checking my emails every day, and posting here every day, but I’m in front of screens a lot less. Instead, I’m spending more time taking walks, spending time with friends, doing yoga, reading, and doing other things that GIVE me energy instead of draining it like social media does. It’s only been a few days but I already feel better and have more time for the things that are important to me. If you can, I encourage you to take a break from social media… for a day, week, month… and see how it changes things for you.

    ———-

Wow, time has flown and so much has happened! We left at about 6am on Saturday. We drove 1575 miles in 32 hours. Two time zones over we arrived in Denver (Sunday). Before meeting up with the friends we’re staying with we went to Red Rocks, which was beautiful of course. We hung out with our friends on Monday. Tuesday we were going to hike to Lake Isabelle but about 1000 feet up the mountain my car’s alternator decided to die. We spent the rest of the day getting that fixed. Hooray. The place we took it to was wonderful and drove us to a nearby park while we waited for them to fix it. The park ended up being a locked fenced baseball field and it started raining soon after we got there. We jumped the fence and found an unlocked door which ended up being the electrical room. We hung out in there until the rain stopped then we chilled on the bleachers the rest of the time. Once the car was fixed we drove around Boulder for a bit. Wednesday/yesterday we drove to Rocky Mountain National Park and hiked about 5 or 6 miles on Timber Lake trail. We camped overnight and today we hiked over 10 miles from Green Mountain trail to Granite Falls. Omg we are so tired and sore! That was the longest hike we’ve ever done in one day. We took a few rolls of film yesterday and today and I’m looking forward to getting them developed!

    ———-

We had to stop and get a few photos here yesterday on our way to Black Canyon of the Gunnison. We even got a couple of quick nudes on film! Black Canyon is so amazing. Photos and words cannot describe the enormity, magnificence, and wonder of this place. We took some landscapes and nudes (and the sunset!) and camped here last night. We got up early enough to shoot some sunrise nudes. I’m so anxious to see all this film!!! We just showered at a truck stop and are getting lunch before heading to Arches National Park!

    ———-

We made it to Utah yesterday and spent the night next to the Colorado River. Camping in the canyon we could see so many stars! Tonight we’ll be camping in a different section of the canyon and getting up super early (again) for more sunrise nudes. Most of the nudes are on film but we’re trying to get some digital samples to share until we get the film developed.

    ———-

We camped in the canyon again last night after our sunset hike/shoot at Dead Horse Point State Park. We’ve really been roughing it: living out of my car, sleeping in a tent, brushing our teeth at gas stations, wearing the same clothes 2 days in a row. I’ve actually really loved it even though some parts have been stressful. We don’t even know where we’re sleeping tonight yet! But that’s part of the adventure. 😊

    ———-

Hi guys! I’m currently in the back of my car attempting to get some sleep while we drive through Amarillo and northern Texas on our way back home to Charlotte. I’m sad that our epic road trip is almost over but all good things must come to an end, right? I wasn’t able to post as much as I wanted while we were gone. I didn’t think beforehand that we would be mostly in national parks and therefore wouldn’t have much signal at all. But! Now that we’re on the road 4G is on and I’m able to post stuff to pass the time! Don’t worry, I won’t totally flood your patreon feed/email. I just want to share a couple more photos of the places we’ve been since I last posted. Once we get back home I’ll start taking batches of film to get developed and I’ll be able to share so much more from the trip! I have several rolls that I used to take landscapes that are earmarked to be doubled over with self portraits or a model so Colorado & Utah will show up on here for a while. Yay!

    ———-

AD told me this bed was his new best friend. I don’t blame him, it was the first real bed we slept in in 2 weeks. Our last night we decided to splurge and stay at a bed & breakfast called Kelly Place outside of Mesa Verde National Park. One of the best decisions ever! It felt amazing to sleep in a bed and have an actual bathroom. The breakfast the next morning was delicious! This B&B is special because it’s also an archaeological site with ancient Puebloan kivas, pueblos, and other artifacts on the property. They give a booklet to all guests so they are able to do a self guided tour around the property and even encourage guests to enter the kivas! I have a video from inside one of the kivas that I’ll upload to the Smugmug once we get home. Kivas are ancient Puebloan sacred spaces that were used for religious and ceremonial purposes. They are circular underground rooms with a fire pit that you enter from above using a ladder. The thing that impressed me the most was the intricate way they stacked the logs for the roof. I don’t have a photo because it was too dark inside but wait for that video! I’ll be doing a lot of uploading this weekend after we get home.

    ———-

Got home safe and sound yesterday! Our trip by the numbers:

    32 hours driving there
    5 national parks
    2 state parks
    33 miles hiking beautiful landscapes
    15 rolls of 35mm film
    5 nights with friends
    5 nights in a tent
    3 nights in a car
    1 night in a B&B
    42 hours driving back
    5100 total miles driven

So sad that it’s over but glad to be home.

All the images below were taken on film by Antisocialdisposition during our road trip.

  • Film & Polaroids with Drake Avenue

Drake Avenue and I have been friends for years and have created together several times. If you’ve been around for a while you probably remember some of the things we’ve created together over the years (at waterfalls, in corn fields, purplechrome in the forest just to name a few). I’m so lucky that I have so many wonderful creative friends that live near me! We took these in and around my parents house (that I now live in again! YAY!)
CURRENTLY: It’s Wednesday the 27th because I always prep these weekly posts early (you know how important consistency is for me!), and I can hardly believe I’ll be 30 years old on the 30th (the day this goes live)! I still definitely feel like a teenager sometimes, or like a little kid, or like a twenty-something year old. Time is so weird and it’s useless to fight against it. When I get older I’m reminded that age is really just a number and it’s not about how many circles around the sun you’ve made, but more about how you’ve spent your time while doing it. I am so thankful that this is the life I lead… 5 years ago I couldn’t have imagined being a self employed artist. It’s been my dream for SO LONG and here I am LIVING IT! THANK YOU!! YOU ARE THE REASON I CAN BUY FOOD AND FILM AND GAS! THANK YOU, I APPRECIATE YOU SO MUCH! <3
Even with how excited and honored I am to be able to do this, I still long for more. I want more fulfillment, more excitement, more community involvement, more HEALING. I don’t exactly know what’s next, but I have an idea, and I am so looking forward to starting to make it a reality.
    But first, I hibernate. =]
Don’t worry, I’ll still be as consistent as ever on here. I just won’t be on social media for a week or two. That’s gonna feel REALLY GOOD.

We’re leaving super early on Saturday morning! Probably something like 5 am. We’ll be driving for two days straight to get to our friend’s place in Denver. I’m so ready to be in the mountains exploring, hiking, creating. My wanderlust has just gotten more intense, pulling me toward unfamiliar landscapes. I am so ready to hit the road.

The only thing is… we still have to pack! I’m working until 1 pm  so I’ll only have half of the day to finish getting ready to leave. We’re also making time at some point tomorrow to visit friends, one of which is about to move all the way across the country to Portland. Now we really have no reason to NOT visit the west coast, hopefully in the next year or so. I’ve been wanting to visit that side of the country for so long, it’s about time I finally made the trip out there. I’m gonna make it happen. Wanderlust. I has it.

The above are all self portraits from a weekend in the NC mountains.

The above images are double exposures I took of Roarie Yum on medium format film.

  • Doubles and slide film with Hannah Elizabeth

Earlier this year Hannah Elizabeth, Antisocialdisposition and I met at our friend Michael O’Neill‘s (who is also a photographer!) condo that was empty because he had it on the market but it hadn’t sold yet. We all took turns photographing each other… you might remember the photos that Hannah took of me & AD that I’ve already shared. It was a really great afternoon of creating and spending time together. I’ve said it before, but I’m so thankful that there are some wonderful creatives that live here in Charlotte with me!
CURRENTLY: I’m settling into my new/old house after moving back into my childhood home with my parents last weekend. I’m really loving being back here again after 9 years of living elsewhere, and since my parents are still on their own cross country road trip adventure I’ve had the house to myself, which has been really nice. They’re coming back home sometime late December and I’m honestly just so excited to see them and live with them again! Instead of moving back into my old childhood bedroom, my new bedroom is in the sunroom which has 3 out of 4 walls that are covered in windows, and I have my own entrance, AND I’m closest to our outside patio/backyard oasis! I absolutely love it, I feel like I’m even closer to nature and I am really enjoying the super quick access outside. I still have some decorating to do (I’m gonna FILL UP the one wall with art!), but I’m basically done unpacking and my room feels so cozy already!

    ———-

A week from today we’ll be leaving for Colorado! I’m so so so excited. There will be lots of hiking and nature and photos. And driving. Lots of driving. It’s about a 24 hour drive to get there. We’ve turned the back of my little hatchback into a tiny bed so that we can switch off driving and sleeping. The goal is to get there as quickly as possible! But we might make some stops along the way to stretch our legs and walk around in cities we haven’t been to before. Who knows. It’s going to be an adventure! We really don’t have much planned other than what city or national park we’ll be in each day. I’m usually a super planner and have EVERYTHING planned, almost down to the hour. I’ve been changing a lot this year so I’m excited to make the plans as we go along. This is so not 2015 Bunny but 2016 Bunny is kinda scared and mostly thrilled. We’ll be staying with a friend in Denver and most likely camping/roughing it in the national parks. We might possibly get an airbnb or cheap hotel at some point. Anything is possible when you don’t have a solid plan!
